Rejection Is Just Redirection
Ipin O. 8TH GRADE

Dealing with "no" is sometimes frustrating to process. As humans it's in our nature to naturally want everything to go well for ourselves. For example, whether it's financially, physically, mentally, emotionally, or even socially no one ever wants to willingly fail. But one thing I've learned is that without training to hear the word "no" we've inevitably set ourselves up for the thing we've been avoiding the most. I, myself have also become victim to this same mindset multiple times but I would like to share my favorite example to you.
Recently while school was still in session a letter had been given out for all to apply to an High honors society. I was so excited seeing as I know multiple people who have gotten in and they stated that it really helped them for applying to high schools. Now looking back I remember being quite entitled thinking that I would automatically get in. I put off the application till the month it was due but still worked it out in a way that the application looked perfect. Later I would soon figure out that this would bite me back in the most heartbreaking way. So months passed by and the results were sent back. I was truly thrilled to find out whether I had been accepted or not because I had already heard how everyone in my class said it was super easy for them to get in. If you haven't already picked up on the story yet (news flash) I didn't get accepted. I could focus on how unhappy I was when I figured this out but instead I would like to focus on how this turn of events actually changed me for the better.
Have you ever heard the phrase, "rejection is just redirection"? Well I definitely experienced this the hard way through this story. After sulking for so long I finally got myself out of it and began to look at the bigger picture. I noticed that when I figured myself as too qualified to get in is when I got humbled. Or when I had become overly confident is when I got humiliated. This caused me to begin to go back to God and pray that He would continually help me to become more meek in everything I do. Hearing this "no" helped me to begin to see things from a different perspective, that maybe the "no" that you are hearing now is God's way of bringing you to a different level. Now to all those reading this take it from me, it wasn't easy to hear but it was much needed.
